Good Morning Blocksignal Community,
Executive Summary
Tuesday was a day of stabilisation inside a hostile macro backdrop. Bitcoin traded around $83,500 and Ether around $2,700, both roughly flat after Monday's dip, while the bond market kept the pressure on: the 10-year Treasury yield reached its highest level since June 2007 and Brent crude stayed above $100 after President Trump turned down Iran's peace proposal. Under the surface, spot Bitcoin ETFs logged an eighth consecutive day of inflows, and Bitget continued its staged reopening after last week's $388 million breach.
Market Action and Drivers
Bitcoin opened Tuesday near $83,488 and touched $83,961 in early US trading, according to Yahoo Finance, while Decrypt showed it at $83,439, up 0.7% on the day but about 2% lower over the week. Ether stood at roughly $2,688, unchanged from Monday. The move was a pause rather than a rebound: Bitcoin is still 3.6% below its level a week ago, and the market is trading the same variable as on Monday, which is the cost of money and the price of oil rather than anything crypto-specific.
The causal chain is worth spelling out. Trump's rejection of Iran's seven-day proposal kept crude elevated, Brent sat below $104 after a spike toward $108. Higher oil feeds inflation expectations, which pushes yields up. Decrypt reports the 10-year at 5.274% and the 30-year at 5.583%, the highest since 2002. For an asset that pays no yield, that is a direct competitor for capital, and it explains why Bitcoin struggles to hold rallies even while flows are positive.
Flows and Positioning
The institutional bid is the counterweight. Decrypt counts eight straight days of spot Bitcoin ETF inflows totalling about $3 billion, with the funds holding roughly $107.8 billion, or 6.4% of Bitcoin's market cap. The Block noted last week's $2.4 billion inflow was the largest since October 2025 and pushed year-to-date flows positive at about $934 million, after a $5.8 billion hole in mid-July. Monday's inflow was a much smaller $31 million, so the pace has cooled even though the streak continues. Strategy added 1,665 BTC for about $142.7 million, lifting its holdings to a record 847,666 BTC.
The rate market is the risk to that picture. Futures now price a 70.3% chance of an October Fed hike, up from 55.4% a week earlier, so this week's inflation and jobs data carry more weight than usual.
Industry: Bitget Reopens
Bitget resumed Ether withdrawals on Tuesday, following Bitcoin and BSC-network withdrawals on Monday. According to Coingape, the exchange had processed 9,585 Bitcoin withdrawals worth about 4,098 BTC by early Monday, cites a 127% reserve ratio and a user protection fund above $464 million, and says private keys and cold wallets were not compromised. Attackers used a third-party security tool to obtain internal credentials, which is an operational failure rather than a protocol one. Figures for the total loss and the size of the protection fund have differed between reports in recent days, so treat individual numbers with care.
Elsewhere, a Latin America snapshot from Rio Times is a useful reminder of what actually drives adoption: roughly 98% of Brazil's $6.9 billion in first-quarter crypto volume was in dollar-linked stablecoins, used for payments and savings rather than speculation.
Today's Watch
Wednesday is quarter-end, so expect rebalancing flows and a headline print on Bitcoin's third-quarter performance. Bitget is due to reopen USDT withdrawals, with other tokens, fiat and P2P services scheduled for October 2. The bigger event is the data: core PCE inflation and the September jobs report will decide whether the October hike odds keep climbing, and with 10-year yields at 19-year highs, the reaction in bonds will likely set the tone for Bitcoin more than any crypto-native news.
